Imagine being told that your cherished memories stem from events that never really happened. That's the intriguing plot line that catapulted "The Forgotten" into top spot at the U.S. box office over the weekend. The film, starring Julianne Moore as a woman determined to prove her own sanity in such a scenario, debuted with an estimated gross of $22 million. "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow," a throwback to cliffhanger serials of years past, slipped to second place with $6.74 million. Coming in third with $5 million was the critically-acclaimed Bernie Mac baseball comedy "Mr. 3000" about a world-class batter who comes out of retirement. There was a tie for fourth place between Katie Holmes' latest comedy, "First Daughter," and the horror-thriller "Resident Evil: Apocalypse." Both films each brought in $4 million. Rounding out the top ten were: "Cellular" ($3.65 million); "Wimbledon" ($3.4 million); "Shaun of the Dead" ($3.26 million); "Without a Paddle" ($2.38 million); and "Hero" ($2.26 million).
