When people wear green on St. Patrick's Day, it's normally just a friendly nod to the patron saint of Ireland. But when students at McIsaac School Ecole McIsaac donned the colour on Wednesday, it was for something much more important. The school took part in the the Rainbow Society of Manitoba's "Wear Green For A Dream" campaign to raise money to help grant the wishes of terminally ill children. Students were encouraged to wear green and each donate $1, which gave them a chance to win a $100 gift certificate from the Chapters book chain. The school also gets the chance to win a $250 gift certificate from the chain to add to its library. In less than three days, the school raised $380, an amount that pleased teacher Shirley Payne, who helped student council organize the fundraiser. "It was just a tremendous, successful campaign," she said. "The kids had a lot of fun doing this." Pictured is Mr. Bujold's grade 2 class proudly wearing green as well as the "Wear Green For A Dream" stickers handed out to students who made a donation.
