An effort to relaunch a local Citizens on Patrol program isn't off to as good a start as organizers had hoped. As of Monday afternoon, five volunteers had stepped forward, but more will be needed if the program is to operate again. Flin Flon By-law Enforcement Officer Darren Romo, who is overseeing the program, would like to get at least a dozen people on board. Hours and days of operation will be determined when and if the program gets off the ground for the first time in about three years. Citizens on Patrol, also called COP, is a volunteer program in which people conduct patrols of their community in search of criminal or suspicious activity. They immediately report such situations to the RCMP. For more information, or to put your name forth for Citizens on Patrol, phone Darren at 681-7509 or the Flin Flon RCMP at 687-7488.2/6/05
