Creighton MLA Doyle Vermette has new critic's duties following the Saskatchewan opposition's latest shadow cabinet shuffle. Vermette's shadow portfolio now includes SGI, the provincial insurance corporation. He is no longer critic for Tourism, Parks and Sport He remains the critic for Northern Saskatchewan and STC, and is the associate critic for First Nations and M_tis relations. Outside of those duties, Vermette is also a member of the recently-created Traffic Safety Committee, a special committee that is examining ways to reduce highway deaths. The committee is expected to file a report on its work soon. Opposition Leader Cam Broten shuffled the critic responsibilities of his NDP MLAs last week. 'I want to take every opportunity to build a strong, forward-looking opposition,' Broten said in a news release. 'Matching MLAs' critic duties with their strengths and the issues they're passionate about will make us even stronger.' Vermette was first elected MLA of the Cumberland constituency in a 2008 by-election. He was easily re-elected in the 2011 general election.
