Flin Flon RCMP are trying to keep the peace Ñ literally. Some residents have altered or removed the mufflers on their off road vehicles, often making the machines noisy and disruptive. Police are advising the public that fines will be issued to people found driving such off road vehicles, including snowmobiles, quads, and dirt bikes. The Off Road Vehicle Act allows police to issue $80 fines to operators who do not have a proper muffler. The fine for an altered muffler is almost five times more at $380. Police are asking people who drive their off road vehicles during the late night or early morning hours to please be courteous to the residential areas around them. Police invite anyone with questions or concerns on this matter to contact them at 687-7488.
