Jonathon Naylor Editor Despite the slippery roads and frequent snowfall, vehicle collisions have been rare in Flin Flon so far in 2013. Cpl. Miles Hiebert, a spokesperson for the RCMP in Manitoba, said Monday there have been 'very few' collisions in the community and those that have been reported were 'very minor in nature.' One of those minor accidents occurred this past Saturday, Jan. 12, with a two-truck collision on Green St. at the Phelan Ave. intersection. The afternoon accident left broken vehicle parts laying on the pavement, but there were no injuries and both motorists were able to drive their trucks away. This season, as with every winter, RCMP urge motorists to reduce their speed and drive to conditions when weather conditions are poor, especially in areas of reduced visibility. 'Remember that stopping times may be increased, and longer following distances are recommended,' added Cpl. Hiebert.
