The Flin Flon RCMP received numerous complaints of vandalism during the evening of Monday, February 21, 2005. There were numerous garages, vehicles, garbage cans and other properties spray painted. Three youths were arrested that evening. The investigation is still continuing, as there may be more victims who have yet to report the vandalism. Youths may believe that spray painting is a harmless prank. It actually falls under Mischief in the Criminal Code and worst case scenario could mean two years in jail. Spray painting is not a prank to the victim who has worked hard and taken pride in their garage or vehicle. In the case of a vehicle being spray painted, not only are you damaging the vehicle, but you are also denying the owner the use of the vehicle while it is being repainted. Please discuss this with your children and let them know the severity of the offence. Hopefully with education we can stop some of the summer spray painting before it happens.
