Nickel giant Vale has been charged with violating workplace safety laws in the 2011 death of a worker in Thompson, CBC reports.
Vale was charged with 10 counts last month in relation to the death of a 51-year-old worker whose vehicle fell into a pit at a mine, the network said.
Vale could face penalties of up to $250,000 per charge, but no more than a t total of $2.5 million, a provincial government spokesperson told CBC.
