An 11-year-old Flin Flon boy has been found more than 24 hours after failing to return home from school.
CBC reports that Joel Fidler was located Wednesday afternoon and promptly taken to hospital.
Family members and residents who had been following the story on social media erupted with joy at the news.
There was no immediate word on where Joel was found. CBC’s story came out before the RCMP had a chance to issue a customary statement announcing the boy had been located.
Earlier, Joel’s grandmother, Penny Janvier, told CBC that Joel had been suspended from school Tuesday before running away.
He did not return home from Ruth Betts Community School on Tuesday. Sometime before 6 pm on Tuesday, he was spotted at the Flin Flon Walmart.
Flin Flon RCMP said they were notified that Joel was missing at about 10:30 pm on Tuesday.
Joel’s cousin, Jordana Oulette, said friends, family and RCMP officers took part in a search of the Flin Flon area.
Every available RCMP participated in an overnight search, CBC reported.
