Two men are dead after a fire engulfed a home in Pelican Narrows the morning of Nov. 30.

Police and firefighters were called to a residence on Morin Road around 11 a.m. and found the home was overwhelmed with flames.

RCMP said seven or eight people were inside the house at the time of the fire, including two children. All inhabitants had escaped the home except for two adult males. The fire was extinguished, but the two men were not found outside the building.

A provincial fire scene examiner and the Saskatchewan Coroners’ Service came to Pelican Narrows the next day to investigate. Inside the home, two bodies were recovered. As of Dec. 2, no positive identification of the bodies had been made.

RCMP are continuing an investigation into the fire with the coroner’s office and the provincial fire scene examiner. The scene has been released by police and investigators. The cause of the fire is not considered to be suspicious.
