Minor injuries were reported after a Via Rail train derailed between The Pas and Hudson Bay.
The eight-car train went off the tracks shortly after 3 am on July 5, on its way to The Pas with 16 passengers and five crew on board. Two locomotive cars and one luggage car ran off the tracks and fell onto their sides in the accident.
A pair of crew members were injured in the incident and taken to hospital in Hudson Bay.
Rail service between Winnipeg and Gillam was temporarily suspended after the incident.
Heavy rain in the area is believed to have played a role in the accident. From July 2 to July 4, a total of 10 centimetres of rain was reported in the Hudson Bay region.
