Two candidates have put their names forward to run for a seat left vacant when then-Coun. Leslie Beck resigned to run as the Liberal candidate in the Manitoba provincial election.
Flin Flon City Council will hold a municipal by-election for the seat on Wednesday, June 1.
Colleen Arnold, director of the Flin Flon Women’s Resource Centre, and Guy Rideout, former arena manager at the Whitney Forum, both filed their nomination papers by the city’s deadline of 4 pm on Tuesday, April 26.
City of Flin Flon municipal administrator Mark Kolt said that each nominee has made a set of affirmations regarding his or her eligibility, and submitted 25 signatures from Flin Flon residents who are on the current voters list.
The City of Flin Flon by-election was announced earlier this year when Beck resigned.
Beck did not file for nomination.
