Jonathon Naylor Editor No one was injured early Monday after a semi trailer filled with wood chips somehow caught fire on the highway near Cranberry Portage. RCMP said they were notified at about 5 a.m. of the fire approximately two kilometres south of the town on Highway 10. Officers arrived on scene to find that the semi driver had pulled over and disconnected the flaming trailer. Firefighters from Cranberry Portage attended to douse the blaze, which produced thick, dark smoke as it consumed the yellow metal trailer. Police said the cause appeared to be mechanical in nature, but the matter was still under investigation. The semi had been traveling from the Sherridon area and was headed toward The Pas, police said.
