Kelly Carrington Staff Writer The Creighton Public Library Board received funding through the Pahkisimon Neye-ah Library System during last week's Creighton Town Council meeting. The CPLB received $17,951 from the La Ronge-based PNLS, with the money to go toward operations of the Flin Flon Public Library. Funding through PNLS will be matched by the Town of Creighton and Village of Denare Beach for operating costs of the library, which caters to all three communities. PNLS was created in 1990 under the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education. Other highlights from the March 14 council meeting include: Council agreed to rent a small office in the Town of Creighton building to the Nuclear Waste Management Organization for the purpose of housing learning materials and administration duties. The rental agreement will be 12 months with a remuneration of $500, plus GST, per month. Council passed a motion to rent an office inside the Creighton Recreation building to Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation's employment development coordinator. The four-month agreement includes a monthly remuneration of $600 plus GST. Council carried a motion to keep the existing remuneration for councillors in terms of indemnity, per diems and travel expenses. Council gave first, second and third readings to a bylaw amendment to regulate the keeping of dangerous dogs. Council gave first reading a bylaw to provide for the licensing, regulating and governing of persons engaged in business with the Town of Creighton. Council agreed to purchase from Ped's Threads 100 gift sets for the graduating class of Creighton Community School. Council referred a request for funding for 2012 from the Flin Flon and District Environment Council to the Environment, Public Health and Environmental Development Committee. Council referred four items to the General Government Services Committee: a request from Creighton Community School's yearbook committee asking for advertising; a request from the school's Grad Committee asking for a donation or prize; a letter from Partners for Saskatchewan River Basin requesting financial support; and a letter offering advertising in the 2012 edition of the NextStop tourist guide. Council reviewed a thank-you letter from the Flin Flon Ski Club for a donation made toward the 2012 SaskMan Cup Cross Country Ski Competition held last month. Council reviewed a letter from Community Futures/Visions North regarding an upcoming workshop in La Ronge this June.
