Why would someone want to visit our area? A colourful new booklet provides 49 pages worth of answers. Hot off the presses, it's the Flin Flon, Creighton and Denare Beach Visitor's Guide, highlighting our unique stories, history and recreational opportunities with intriguing articles and vibrant photos. "If people have something that shows pictures of the area ? and there are some beautiful pictures of the Flin Flon district ? maybe that might help them decide to come our way rather than going somewhere else," said Dave Kendall, past-president of the chamber of commerce. The chamber teamed up with Greenstone Community Futures Development Corp. to have 12,000 copies of the booklet printed after supplies of a previous brochure ran out in less than two years. Greenstone will distribute the visitor's guides at trade shows across Canada, the United States, and Europe, and area lodge owners attending such shows are invited to do the same. "We've got something to hand out so people have an idea of what our area is like," said Kendall, who is also the chairman of Greenstone. See 'Booklet' P.# Con't from P.# The booklets will also be available locally at the Greenstone office and the Flin Flon Tourist Bureau, and copies have been sent to Travel Manitoba, which will place them at the entry points into Manitoba. The sleek brochure is packed with interesting tidbits about the Flin Flon area. It details the many leisurely opportunities available, from sailing on Amisk Lake, to feeding the ducks on Hapnot Lake, to strolling alongside Ross Lake on Flinty's Boardwalk. Readers also get to know the history of the area and the all-important mining industry that has kept people here for more than seven decades. First-time visitors will have no trouble finding their way around thanks to a detailed map that labels various points of interest and community services. Greenstone general manager Lois (Bunny) Burke said the last visitor's guide, also put out by Greenstone and the chamber, generated a lot of interest at trade shows in places like Texas and Florida. She said the updated edition features all new content to keep up that level of curiosity.
