Just as the weather turns chillier, 10 residents and couples have a chance to escape to warmer pastures.
With vacation packages to the likes of Hawaii and Cuba up for grabs, the Rotary Dream Draw took place earlier this month at the R.H. Channing Auditorium.
Sheena Reid took the top prize, a seven-night trip for two to sunny Hawaii worth $4,500.
The second prize, a trip to Jamaica valued at $4,000, went to Bryan Kryschuk, while Gloria Brown will get our her sombrero in Mexico, a $3,500 value.
Carol Mansell can get out the suntan lotion in Cuba, a prize worth $3,300, while Raymond and Cathy Daneliuk earned an excursion to the Dominican Republic worth $3,200.
Martin Ledoux is headed south to Florida after winning a $2,500 trek to the Sunshine State.
Jason Wilson has a date with Mickey Mouse after winning the seventh prize, a $2,400 trip to Disneyland in Anaheim, California.
Brad Lantz may be hedging his bets after Lady Luck awarded him a $2,300 excursion to Las Vegas.
Another exciting destination awaits Grace Braaten, who won the chance to travel to sunny Palm Springs, California, a $2,200 value.
The weather is also pleasant in Phoenix, Arizona, where Richard Anaka can head after taking home a $2,100 prize.
All trips are for two people and include hotel, flights out of Winnipeg or Saskatoon, and meals. The top five trips are for one week, while the remainder are for three days.
Each winner can take the prize as is or claim 75 per cent of its cash value.
The lucky winners aren’t the only ones smiling. Having sold all 499 Dream Draw tickets, the Rotary Club expects to generate nearly $20,000 from the fundraiser.
Draw chairperson Dave Kendall said the funds will possibly go toward a seniors’ housing project, new lighting at the Rotary Park spray pool and further enhancements for Pioneer Square.
