Voters across the nation are set to go to the polls this Monday, June 28, to decide what kind of government leadership we will have in the next few years. According to recent polls, the ruling Liberals are in a tight race with the Conservative Party, while the NDP are poised to possibly increase their presence in Ottawa. The campaign has been intense with serious accusations, and counter accusations, between the party leaders. Of particular note has been the relentless attack by Paul Martin's Liberal Party, and a variety of their supporters, against Steven Harper's Conservative Party. In his defense, Harper has shot back by reminding the voters about the mishandling of public funds by the Liberal government, something that was highlighted in the now famous Auditor General's report. Although a distant third in the polls, the NDP have been able to get their message out loud and clear this time around, with the flamboyant Jack Layton at their helm. In Quebec, the Separatist Party is on the rise again, as Quebecers are upset about being linked with the Liberal Adscam. Pollsters are suggesting that a minority government may the scenario for Canada after the dust clears on election night, however public opinion polls have been wrong before. With clearly different choices to ponder this time around, it's important that each and every one of us gets out and votes. Let your voice be heard.
