Tickets for the Flin Flon Lions Club Christmas Raffle are going like milk and cookies at Santa's house. An estimated 1,900 of the 5,000 tickets for the 2004 Dodge Caravan remain, and the Lions believe a sellout is within their grasp. "It's been going great," said Harold Spring, chairman of the fundraiser, as he sold tickets in the Lions Trailer on Main Street yesterday. Available in the popular holiday draw this year is a glossy black 2004 Dodge Caravan Anniversary Edition valued at $26,650. The attractive van features a 3.3L V-6 engine, rear child safety locks, four-speed automatic transmission and a CD player. Spring commented that he has heard plenty of positive comments about the van, which can often be seen parked outside the Lions Trailer. The Lions typically make the majority of their profits on their Christmas draws in the days leading up to December 25 and expect that will again be the case this year. The annual Christmas draw is the Lions' most financially successful fundraiser. With all of the profits going to various worthy causes in the local area, many ticket buyers treat their purchase as both a donation and as a chance to be handed the keys to a new set of wheels. The draw will be made on Christmas day at Twin Motors, where the van was purchased, and broadcast live on CFAR. Tickets may be purchased at the Lions Trailer on Main Street until Christmas Eve at 4 p.m. Tickets are also sold at Canadian Tire and in many local businesses. Harold Spring invites anyone who would like to buy a ticket outside of shopping hours to contact him at 687-6958.
