Jonathon Naylor Editor Charges have been laid in three separate drug busts made by police in northern Manitoba. RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in Lynn Lake on April 30, seizing just under a pound of marijuana, a small amount of cash and drug paraphernalia. The estimated street value of the seized pot is about $8,000, police said. A 27-year-old male and a 19-year-old female, both residents of Lynn Lake, were arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking. They were released on a promise to appear in Lynn Lake court on May 28. Two days earlier, on April 26, Mounties stopped a black van on Highway 374 south of the First Nations community of Cross Lake. Subsequent investigation revealed the two occupants were in possession of a about 93 grams of marijuana, police said. Driver arrested The driver, a 30-year-old man from Cross Lake, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. He was released and scheduled to appear in court on June 12 in Cross Lake. No further information was made available as police continued to investigate. The previous month, on March 22, members of the Thompson RCMP Drug Section conducted a vehicle stop in the northern city as part of an ongoing investigation. A search of the vehicle revealed a quantity of marihuana and cocaine packaging materials. A search of the driver found about one ounce of hidden cocaine. The driver, a 19-year-old Thompson man, has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of marijuana under 30 grams. He has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Thompson Provincial Court on May 18.
