Jonathon Naylor Editor Local organizations will share in $1.1 million being doled out through the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority's charitable gaming grant program. Under the latest funding allotment, the Creighton Community Centre, Flin Flon Motorcyclists Association and Denare Beach Recreation Board will receive a combined total of just over $8,000. 'The people of our province are known to have an incredible spirit of volunteerism,' Tim McMillan, minister responsible for the liquor and gaming authority, said in a news release. 'The grants being provided by our government to these groups and organizations recognize their efforts and allow them to further enhance their communities.' Several hundred organizations across Saskatchewan are receiving grants. These quarterly grants are based on a percentage of net proceeds raised through licensed charitable gaming activities such as bingos, raffles, break-open tickets, Texas Hold'em poker and Monte Carlo events. Charitable gaming reports submitted by not-for-profit groups are used to automatically calculate grant amounts. The Creighton Community Centre gets $2,125, with $4,522 going to the Flin Flon Motorcyclists Association and $1,370 to the Denare Beach Recreation Board. In Sandy Bay, $764 goes to the Community Resource Centre and $290 to the local recreation board.
