The third home invasion in less than a month occurred in recent days when jewelry and other items were stolen from a Milton Street residence. Police said the thief or thieves gained access through a rear window and exited the rear door sometime between this past Friday and Monday. Items known to be stolen consisted of jewelry, a DVD player, a Cannon Elph camera and an undisclosed amount of loose change. Police searched the home but found nothing of evidentiary value. Two other break-ins this month occurred on September 6 and 28 in the uptown area. Arrest On Sunday, police arrested a Flin Flon man for possessing property stolen from one of the uptown robberies. They continue to investigate the suspect for a possible connection to the other two break-ins. The suspect, who police said has not admitted to any of the home invasions, was remanded into custody in The Pas. Police are again asking residents to secure their homes and to take preventative measures to deter would-be robbers. Additional lighting has proven to be an inexpensive and effective means to do so, they said. In another matter, police are asking for the public's help in solving an incident of vandalism at McIsaac School Ecole McIsaac last Thursday, September 25. School staff reported that several garbage bags were thrown on a fence and fluorescent light bulbs were broken. Police encourage anyone with information about the break-ins or school vandalism to contact them at 687-7488 or Manitoba Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Callers to Crimestoppers remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
