Robbin Fontaine could be wearing a wedding band in less than a month, and no one is more surprised about that than the former Flin Flonner. The University of Winnipeg education student and his fiancee could win a free wedding on February 28 and a Havana honeymoon courtesy of a Winnipeg radio station. "We were going to wait a year-and-a-half until I was done school to get married, but the chance of winning a free wedding and a trip to Cuba is pretty hard to pass up," said Fontaine. "It's still just sinking in. I could be a married man by the end of February." Fontaine and fiancee Danielle Huggan are one of five couples vying to win the "I Havana Get Married" contest put on by Q-94 FM. Each couple has been interviewed on the air this week, allowing listeners to learn a thing or two about each bride and groom-to-be. Between today and this Thursday, listeners are encouraged to log onto the station's Web site to vote for their favourite couple. Fontaine and Huggan, who is from Winnipeg, have agreed to donate to charity the $2,000 they have already saved for a wedding should listeners choose them. "If we're going to get something for free, we want to give something back," said Fontaine, whose career goal is to develop theatre and film programs at a Winnipeg school. Even getting into the top five took some hard work and maybe a stroke of luck for the couple. They were chosen as finalists after Danielle sent the producers a giant pop-up card, complete with pictures of the couple, and shared with them a poem detailing how she and Fontaine met. Whichever couple wins will receive a hefty prize package that includes an all-expenses-paid wedding reception (including the wedding gown and cake) in Winnipeg for 100 people, with the ceremony to be broadcast live on Q-94 FM. They will also receive a seven-night trip to Cuba and various wedding gifts. Anyone wishing to cast their vote for Robbin Fontaine and Danielle Huggan may log onto www.q94fm.com The polls will close on February 5 at midnight with the winner to be announced February 6.
