Six individuals are facing charges after RCMP seized about $17,000 worth of illegal drugs from suspects in The Pas and area. The busts occurred Feb. 7-19 and were mainly the result of ongoing investigations. On Feb. 7, RCMP conducted a traffic stop in which a man was arrested and found to have a quantity of marijuana and over $2,000 in cash. Police later executed a search warrant at his residence and found more marijuana. The man, a 26-year-old resident of The Pas, has been charged with possessing marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, possessing the proceeds of crime and five additional charges. On Feb. 8, police attended a licensed establishment where a 17-year-old male was arrested and found to be in possession of a small quantity of cocaine. Charges are pending for one count of possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. On Feb. 14, RCMP conducted a traffic stop and arrested a man found to be in possession of six ounces of cocaine. The man, a 32-year-old resident of OCN, is charged with one count of possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. A 35-year-old male from The Pas was later arrested in relation to the investigation. He is also facing charges of possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. Also on Feb. 14, RCMP conducted a traffic stop that led to the arrest of one male and one female. A small quantity of benzodiazepine, a tranquilizer, was located inside the vehicle. A 28-year-old man from OCN is charged with one count of trafficking a controlled substance. Finally, on Feb. 19, officers conducted a traffic stop in which a man was arrested and found to have a quantity of cocaine and a small amount of cash. The man, a 40-year-old resident of The Pas district, is charged with possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possessing the proceeds of crime and two additional charges in relation to the case. 'The RCMP is committed to ensuring safe communities,' said Sgt. Lee Fortin of the Pas RCMP.
