Three teenagers have been arrested after threatening to "shoot up" Hapnot Collegiate, according to Flin Flon RCMP.
RCMP were notified June 9 of a possible threat to the school, which is currently in remote learning. After investigating, police located three suspects - two 14-year-olds and a 15-year-old, all males, one of whom police said had "access to firearms in his home."
All three suspects were arrested and charged with uttering threats, with all three now having been released from custody. The firearms have been turned over to police - voluntarily, say RCMP - during the investigation.
Flin Flon RCMP do not believe any remaining people at Hapnot Collegiate, including some staff and students, are in danger and the school has not been locked down. An investigation into the situation is ongoing.
“RCMP take all threats of this nature seriously and investigate them fully,” said Flin Flon RCMP Sgt Mark Svaren in a Manitoba RCMP news release issued June 10.
“Officers will make arrests and lay charges. Threatening to shoot up a school is not a joke. Words can have consequences, and they certainly did in this case."
