Kyle Whitehead is putting his locks on the line in a challenge to the students, parents and staff of McIsaac School Ecole McIsaac. Whitehead has challenged the school to raise $1,000 for cancer research by April 22. Should the challenge be met, the junior high band director will shave his head bald. The students began raising money on April 5, and thanks to a luncheon sponsored by the Education Assistants at the school, have raised just over $804 already, including $329 at the luncheon on Wednesday. As a part of the challenge, the top three students or staff members who bring in the most money will have the first three swipes with the razor, before a hair dresser is brought in to finish the job. Students have until next Thursday to raise the remaining $196. "I've had cancer three times," said Whitehead. "The last two times I went through chemotherapy myself and lost all my hair. Last time I was in the hospital was from November 2000, till March 2001. They gave me a 30% chance of survival. I've been cancer free for three years." Whitehead will go under the razor during an assembly on the afternoon of Friday, April 23.
