Submitted by Flin Flon RCMP As warmer weather will soon be upon us, the Flin Flon RCMP are reminding the public to report suspicious person(s) and activity to police. Preventing crime starts with you, the citizens of Flin Flon. When leaving your home, lock your doors and windows. Keep your garage doors closed when you are home or away. Leaving them open allows would-be thieves to walk by your garage and view your possessions. If you are leaving town for an extended period of time, contact Canada Post and have them hold your mail until your return. Trim trees Keep trees and shrubs on your property trimmed so that windows and doors are visible to your neighbours. Properly positioned motion lights are an effective way to deter people form lurking around your property. Remember to install them out of reach so that the light can't be easily removed. Displaying a 'beware of dog' sign, even if you don't own a dog, will also deter would-be thieves from entering your home. Remember to lock your vehicle doors as well, items such s GPS's and satellite radio receivers should be placed out of sight in your trunk. The goal is to make your vehicle less attractive to would-be thieves. Never leave purses or wallets unattended in vehicles, not only would you have to replace your stolen items, you also run the risk of identity theft.
