The Aqua Doves held a two-hour swimathon last week to help raise money for their club. The girls did laps, participated in an aqua fit class (pictured) and held an egg beater competition.

Two hours of non-stop swimming and pledges is how the Aqua Doves hoped to raise funds for their synchronized swimming competition.

The swimmers collected pledges from the community in exchange for laps in the pool, an aqua fit class and an egg beater competition last Thursday evening, Jan 15.

Even though the club was down nearly a dozen girls due to illness, the Aqua Centre pool was a busy place.

Aqua Doves coach Kirsten Fritsch hoped to see the girls bring in between $1,500 and $2,000.

Each Aqua Dove was asked to raise a minimum of $50, but with nearly a dozen athletes not at the swimathon, the total amount won’t be available for another few days.
