Flin Flon RCMP have arrested a man wanted on several warrants after he allegedly bear sprayed a police officer over the weekend.

According to an RCMP news release, police were alerted shortly after 1 a.m. Nov. 21 that a man wanted on outstanding warrants was seen walking on Third Avenue in Flin Flon. After hearing the news, officers patrolled the area, later finding three people walking on a footpath near Bracken Street. One officer approached the group, only for one male, the wanted man, to attempt an escape on foot.

The officer gave chase, leading the suspect to grab a canister of bear spray and spraying the officer to try and put some distance between him and the officer. The tactic didn't work - RCMP arrested the suspect shortly after.

RCMP have identified the suspect as Nathaniel Linklater, age 19 of Flin Flon. Linklater has been wanted since at least September with warrants on charges including robbery, aggravated assault, theft of a vehicle, possession of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and uttering threats.

In relation to his latest alleged misadventure with the police chase and bear spray, Linklater picked up another seven charges, including assaulting a police officer with a weapon, possess weapon for dangerous purpose, resisting arrest, administering a noxious substance and three counts of fail to comply.

Back in September, Linklater was also suspected by police to be driving a blue 2011 Chevrolet Silverado truck, stolen from a home in Cranberry Portage. Whether or not the vehicle was found is unknown.

Linklater was remanded into police custody after his arrest. His first date in court is currently unknown. None of the charges have been proven in court.
