Flin Flon MP Bev Desjarlais has received good grades from one of her predecessors who spent 14 years on the job. Rod Murphy, MP for the Churchill Riding from 1979 to 1993, said he thinks Desjarlais is handling her position well. "Bev's done a good job and I know the difficulties that she faces," he said in a phone interview from his home outside Thompson. "She's traveling, she's in the different communities all the time, and that's what people expect and that's what they deserve, too." Elected in 1997, Desjarlais has twice defeated the man who unseated Murphy a decade ago Ñ Liberal Elijah Harper. A popular politician among Flin Flonners during his tenure, Murphy is now a policy advisor for Manitoba Transportation and Government Services. -JN
