The Saskatchewan government is providing $7.2 million to help community-based organizations in northern Saskatchewan support vulnerable families.
The funding includes support for Pine Island Community Reference Panel Inc. in Cumberland House; Children North Early Intervention Program Inc. in La Ronge; La Loche Friendship Centre Corp.; Buffalo Narrows Friendship Centre Inc.; Nipawin Oasis Community Centre Co-operative Ltd.; Prince Albert Parkland Regional Health Authority; and Native Co-ordinating Council in Prince Albert.
The Native Co-ordinating Council receives funding for its Diversion programs. The goal of these programs is to provide in-home support and education to parents whose children are at risk of coming into care of social services.
The council is also given funding for the operation of two emergency receiving homes; family supports; in-home support for foster parents; visitation, supervision and transportation for parents with children in care; supported independent living; and two peer homes.
