Jonathon Naylor Editor Five Hapnot Collegiate students are one step closer to joining a humanitarian mission in one of the world's poorest nations. The Inner Wheel Club of Flin Flon last week contributed $300 to the teens' planned trip to Nicaragua this July. Betty Smith, club president, smiled as she presented the cheque to two of the students, Shannah Fisher and Janelle Wride, during the Inner Wheel's regular meeting at the Victoria Inn. Joining Fisher and Wride in the Central American country will be Caitlin Bradt, Derek Novosel and Nicole Storey. The Grade 11 students will spend eight days in Nicaragua helping with sustainability projects, such as building a school. The trip, which will begin in July shortly after school ends, is part of Hapnot's extensive involvement with Free the Children, an international charity. For now the focus is on fundraising to help each student offset the cost of the trip.
