Submitted by Flin Flon / Creighton and Area Suicide Prevention Committee The Flin Flon / Creighton and Area Suicide Prevention Committee will be hosting some events to acknowledge World Suicide Prevention Day and raise awareness about one issues of suicide in our communities. This Monday, Sept. 12, we will be holding out Third Annual Suicide Memory Walk. At noon, we will meet at the Neighbours of the North Park and proceed down Main Street to Mugsy's Deli. A free barbecue lunch is to follow beside Mugsy's and anyone is welcome to attend. We are encouraging people to bring a pair of old shoes to place at the memorial flower bed in memory of those lost to suicide. The shoes will be donated to local charities. We will also be offering a free workshop on Sept. 12 called SafeTALK. It is a two-hour training session that prepares participants to be helpers to people at risk for suicide. This will take place at Flin Flon City hall from 1:30-3:30 p.m. and will be facilitated by Jill Rideout and Marlene Gogal. To register, contact Arlene Jacobson at 687-1350.
