Submitted by Flin Flon Alliance Church The Marriage Course started in September 2002 and since then 106 couples have enjoyed an evening out, great food and uninterrupted time together. The next Marriage Course will begin on Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. at the Flin Flon Alliance Church, 237 Green Street. This kicks off the 20th session of the Marriage Course in Flin Flon. The aim of the course is to enable couples to build a healthy relationship that will last a lifetime. The course is seven sessions over eight weeks. Over seven evenings spent together, couples find out new things about each other and new things about themselves. Couples have the opportunity to talk about issues that have been swept under the carpet in the rush of daily life. Heal Couples discover what makes their partner feel loved. Couples have the time to discuss ways they have caused each other pain and discover how to heal the hurt. Couples recognize the sources of pressure on their relationship. Some learn new skills for communicating and resolving conflict. Others make changes in their lifestyle in order to nurture their relationships and they grow closer to each other. The privacy of couples is always respected. There is no requirement to disclose anything personal to a third party, but they are expected to talk to each other. The Marriage Course is for any couple who want to work together at their relationship. Some couples who have attended the course have been married or living together for less than two years, while others have been married for more than thirty years. The course is beneficial and enjoyable for those whose marriage is strong. It also helps couples who are going through difficulties. They are able to re-open communication in a guided and constructive way. Although the course is based on Christian principles and led by Christians, it is very suitable for those with no Christian faith or church background. The course is long enough to allow for real change in a relationship. Bad habits can be broken and good habits formed. If you are interested in attending the Marriage Course, please call 687-6001 or leave a message at the church at 687-8498. We look forward to hearing from you. There is a fee to take the course.
