A technical glitch has left all Creighton and Denare Beach businesses and government agencies out of the latest regional phonebook. But the publisher of the Northern Lights phone directory says the error will not be repeated when the next phonebook is released in 2014. Fiona Story, spokesperson for Yellow Pages Group, blamed the mistake on a new service automation process introduced in January. 'A glitch in the system resulted in the omission of these business listings for Creighton (and Denare Beach) originating from Sasktel,' she said. 'Yellow Pages Group has since identified and resolved the problem.' A total of 102 listings are missing from the 2013-14 edition of Northern Lights. All businesses as well as locations such as the RCMP, Town of Creighton and even the Lions' Spray Pool are nowhere to be seen. Consult Story said people are invited to consult YellowPages.ca or download the Yellow Pages mobile application to access all business listings across Canada. Though it's not clear how common the exclusion of business and government listings are, phonebook errors do happen. Last month, Bartholomew County in Indiana received a settlement of about $3,700 after a phonebook publisher incorrectly listed county numbers, according to The Republic news website. Last year, a phonebook in New York State incorrectly listed residents of Massena as living in Manhattan, according to The Associated Press. Meanwhile, the long-term survival of the hard-copy phonebook is seen as doubtful as more people turn to the Internet to locate the numbers they need.
