With the start of another school year comes the inevitable race to find all the materials necessary for your child's academic success. Fortunately, everything can be found near you, just a few steps from your door! School supplies At your local stationery store you'll find everything that you need to fill your children's school bags, starting with the school bag itself. Notebooks, loose leaf paper, pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners, pencil cases, scissors, glue, rulers, calculators, protractors, and compasses. Even smaller stationery stores stock up for most back-to-school needs. Leading-edge technology These days, a computer is an essential tool for academic work, especially at high school. A visit to the electronics store near you will allow you to give your children the right computer to meet all their needs. If they don't have what you need in stock, they will order it for you. Don't forget to equip laptops and PCs with parental control software so that you can supervise your children while they're on the Web. Be sure to establish some kind of schedule for Internet use so all their spare time won't be spent surfing or playing video games. Clothing and sports equipment Your children will probably need new clothes to start the year, because they've grown or because they're starting to think about their image. Check to see which shops nearby carry children's clothes. This is a great way to dress your child in clothes that won't be seen on a dozen other kids in the same school on the first day back! Local hardware stores and sports equipment stores are also the perfect place to shop for sports clothing and gear that your children will need to exercise their bodies as well as their minds.
