Kelly Carrington Staff Writer The Class of 2012 listened intently as they heard life stories from those who had been in their shoes many years earlier. Listening to their well wishes and advice, the graduates of Hapnot Collegiate were congratulated on a job well done last Thursday evening, June 28. Taking up 53 seats on a stage in the Whitney Forum, the grads were congratulated and honoured by principal Bill Pauley, guest speaker and former teacher Mayor George Fontaine, and valedictorian Connor Trudeau. Fontaine shared cheerful stories of his time as a teacher with the graduates and passed on valuable life lessons he learned from his father. Trudeau presented the class with a humourous, yet heartfelt, address. A touching moment came as Denee Johnson presented the Cailie Rae Church Scholarship to Carissa Zoerb. Johnson spoke of her late sister, Cailie, and how 2012 would have been her year to receive her diploma as well. Through tears and sadness, the award was presented to Zoerb with pride. Following the awards and scholarships, the graduates were given their diplomas, tossed their tassels to the opposite side, and threw their hats in the air to celebrate. The following scholarships, bursaries, and awards were handed out: Hudbay W.A.
