Members of Hudbay's largest union have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a possible strike if displeased with the company's final offer.

United Steelworkers Local 7106 held strike mandate votes in Flin Flon on Tuesday and Snow Lake on Wednesday.

President Tom Davie said the vote carried by a margin of 91.5 per cent. About 85 per cent of members cast ballots.

The vote does not necessarily mean the Steelworkers will go on strike, but it does give the union, representing about 650 workers, that option.
