Under "inflationary pressure from a number of sources," Canada Post has bumped the cost of sending a domestic letter by a penny to 50 cents. It also costs an extra nickel, 85 cents, to send letters, cards and postcards up to 30 grams to the United States. A five-cent hike is in effect for letters, cards and postcards up to 30 grams destined for outside of the U.S. or Canada The new rate is $1.45. "Canada Post is facing inflationary pressure from a number of sources and the... price adjustments take into consideration increased operating costs," said the government agency in a statement. The price increases were announced last year and took effect this week.
