The signs are all around us that spring has finally arrived after what was an often bone-chilling winter. Our calendars might tell us that the first day of spring was back on March 20, but, as usual, Mother Nature had other ideas Ñ until now. Children are slowly starting to bring their bicycles and skateboards out of hibernation, anxious to get back to their favourite pastimes. Parkas have been banished to the back of the coat hanger, where many of us prefer to see them, and cozy toques have been swapped in favour of ballcaps to help block out the suddenly gleaming sun. A drive around the local area is both wonderfully scenic and drippingly wet. The same puddles that bring children wearing rubber boots so much joy become obstacles for motorists who have just pulled their vehicles out of the carwash. Now it won't be long before fishing rods and mosquito repellent are brought out of the garage. Spring has definitely sprung.
