Jonathon Naylor Editor RCMP have arrested two suspects in connection with a homicide on the northern Manitoba reserve of Split Lake. Mounties from the Thompson rural detachment were dispatched to a suspicious death at the reserve's nursing station this past Sunday, Feb. 5 at about noon. Their investigation revealed that an adult male had been transported from his residence to the nursing station and succumbed to injuries sustained during an assault. The victim has been identified as Elijah Alex Garson, 28, a resident of Split Lake First Nation. An autopsy was scheduled to take place in Winnipeg on Tuesday. Police say two suspects, an adult male and a male youth, have been arrested. Thompson RCMP, along with RCMP Major Crime Services and the Thompson Forensic Identification Section, continue to investigate. Authorities ask anyone with information on the homicide to contact the Thompson RCMP at 204-677-6911 or Manitoba Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Callers to Crime Stoppers need never reveal their identity and may become eligible for a cash reward.
