One of Flin Flon's smoothest streets is becoming less inviting for lead-footed drivers. This week the city planned to install two speed bumps on the south block of Bellevue Avenue amid concerns of speeding and reckless driving. The rubber bumps will be bolted into place near the Third Avenue intersection and near the Freedman's Bridge underpass. While the bumps can be removed in the winter for snow clearing, the city expects to be able to work around them. Tanya Benoit, a concerned neighbourhood parent, brought concerns over speeding and reckless driving on the street to city council last year. The city's Traffic Commission later agreed in principle to install the bumps.
