The Highway Traffic Board has announced that the 70 km/h speed limit in the vicinity of Bakers Narrows Provincial Park will remain in place year-round. The Highway 10 speed limit had been seasonal, effective from about May to September of each year, but will become permanent within the next couple of weeks. At a local hearing on the matter last week, the concern was raised that motorists often have difficulty turning onto Highway 10 from a gravel road given the speed of the traffic during the winter. Vehicles had been permitted to travel 100 km/h along the stretch of highway when the seasonal limit was not in effect. Approximately 30 people attended last week's hearing at the Barrow Provincial Building.
