The City of Flin Flon’s budget for 2015 has not yet been approved.
Council continues to wait for the approval of a proposed special services levy from the Manitoba Municipal Board (MMB).
The budget, which is typically approved around May 15, is still pending, waiting approval of the levy – which, if approved, would raise taxes on lower-end homes and lower taxes on higher-end homes in Flin Flon.
City of Flin Flon treasurer Glenna Daschuk says the MMB has had the levy report for some time now. She expects to have a decision within the next two weeks.
The Reminder reported as far back as April that council had hoped to have a decision on the levy by the middle of June.
Now, almost two weeks into July, council continues to wait.
The delay in decision-making will affect capital projects such as road repairs and water and sewer projects within the city, as well as cash flow, said Daschuk.
