Kelly Carrington Staff Writer A warmer start to the Winter season in the Flin Flon area has many residents thrown off from the amount of snow accumulating all at once. It might be slow driving on the roads but the conditions don't seem to be bothering the airplanes taking off and landing at the Flin Flon Airport. As of Wednesday morning, the Flin Flon Airport had 45' of snow _ an average amount according to Airport Operator Cal Hammond. 'We've had some snow and blowing snow here,' he said in a phone interview, 'but we haven't had any missed flights.' A little above average with the amount of snow at the airport, Hammond says this time iofyear generally sees between 75 and 100 centimeters, compared to the 115 to date. Though the snow conditions are average, the weather has peaked to high points of -3 while dipping well below -20 the next day. Even still, the weather has not yet affected flights from the Flin Flon Airport. 'You always get flights cancelled over Christmas time but that's not weather, that's the airline,' said Hammond, noting the airlines connecting from larger airports. With more snow in the forecast for Wednesday, the Flin Flon area wasn't expecting to see more flurries until today, though the weather is always subject to change.
