Jonathon Naylor Editor Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in a fatal snowmobile accident south of Thompson. Thompson RCMP were dispatched to the scene in Thicket Portage shortly before 4 a.m. this past Sunday, Jan. 15. Their investigation indicated that a 21-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were operating a snowmobile when they lost control and were ejected. The male driver was transported to the local nursing station, where he was pronounced deceased. His name will not be released. The female passenger was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Neither the driver nor the passenger were wearing helmets, police said. RCMP continue to investigate. No further information was available Monday.
