Police have uncovered a sophisticated marijuana grow operation in Snow Lake worth more than $125,000. Snow Lake RCMP, with the assistance of the Department of Natural Resources and police in The Pas and Wabowden, made the bust last Saturday after executing a search warrant at a Berry Bay residence. They were surprised to find a sophisticated operation that included two rooms containing 138 marijuana plants in various stages of growth. Based on the growth potential of the plants and the cost of the elaborate equipment, police value the seizure at well over $125,000. A 34-year-old unemployed Snow Lake man faces several charges, including possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and production of a controlled substance. He is scheduled to appear in court in The Pas in January. There is no evidence to suggest the operation was supplying pot to people outside of Snow Lake, police said. The operation is rumoured to have been active for a number of years, but police do not have evidence to support that claim.
