Tech-savvy snowmobilers, rejoice.

Snoman (Snowmobilers of Manitoba) Inc. has released a free smartphone app and website that snowmobilers can use to plan, track and share their routes all winter long.

Snoman president Alan Butler says the app, called RiderX, includes all designated trails in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

Snowmobilers can plan their route, add waypoints, and then download the map to a smartphone for use online or offline.

“This app lets you record your ride and then upload your tracks to your dashboard, which shows lodging, restaurants, and fuel stops,” said Butler.

The app also includes snowmobile trails in Ontario, and some US states, including North Dakota and Minnesota.

Snoman is a not-for-profit organization made up of local member clubs that focus on developing and maintaining snowmobile trails.

Regional member groups include the Border Explorers Snowmobile Club in Flin Flon, Creighton and Denare Beach, the Snow Lake Sno-Drifters and the Kelsey Trail Sno-riders in The Pas, Clearwater Lake and Wanless.
