Flin Flon's famous skyline is getting a new look as workers coat the top portion of the Smoke Stack with a protective black paint. The collar of the stack is already protected by the special paint. Now work is underway to extend the coating further down. The coating will protect the concrete when winds draw the stack emissions down around the upper portion of the cigar-shaped structure. The painting is being completed in vertical strips. That's easiest for the workers lowering themselves down from the tip of the stack. When one strip is completed, as seen in the above photo, they raise themselves up, realign the scaffolding, and paint another strip downward.
