You're invited to take a trip back in time Ñ Flin Flon style Ñ tonight and tomorrow. Local historian Gerry Clark has dusted off his history slides and will share them with the public at the R.H. Channing Auditorium. Clark's impressive collection documents the early years of the community, from the mine strike of 1934 to the railroad coming to town in the late 1920s. A former history teacher at Hapnot Collegiate, Clark assembled much of his collection courtesy of his students over the years who would often bring him an early photo from a relative or friend. "My slide collection just grew every year," he said. Aside from the pictures, Clark will share his vast Ñ and often humourous Ñ knowledge of the local area and its rich history. The slide presentation will go tonight and tomorrow beginning at 7 p.m. There is a $2 admission fee. Proceeds will go toward the Grade 11 History Prize at Hapnot, awarded to the student with the highest mark in grade 11 Canadian History. Clark was pleased to announce that he has obtained a $2,000 grant from the Joe Brain Foundation to ensure the future of the prize. The prize generally consists of a book and a plaque.
