Is your pet cute? Of course! Whether it's the way your cat rubs against your leg or how your dog snoozes at the foot of the bed, you can't get enough of your furry friend. For area residents, the real question is this: Is your pet adorable enough to win The Reminder's Cutest Pet Contest? Beginning today through to September 27, we are accepting entries in our campaign to crown one lucky critter our community's most dainty companion. "This is a great opportunity for residents to showcase their wonderful pets," says Karen MacKinnon, head of The Reminder ad sales. Contest rules are simple: only owners can enter their pets and the animals must live in Flin Flon, Creighton, Denare Beach or the nearby lake areas. There are three categories: Dogs Cats Other (hamsters, rabbits, etc.) Winners in each category will receive a prize from one of our wonderful sponsors: Your Dollar Store With More, Peachy Keen, Creighton Furniture and Appliance Centre, Flin Flon Credit Union, The Orange Toad and Wal-Mart. The precious pets will also appear in The Reminder in early October in honour of Animal Health Week. When it comes to the photos, the more creative, the better. "Last year, the first time we ran this contest, we had entries ranging from pets in flower pots to one in a plastic Jack O' Lantern," notes MacKinnon, adding that photos should also be clear. There is no entry fee, but we encourage participants to support other cute pets by making a contribution to the Flin Flon, Creighton and Area SPCA. All six contest sponsors will have a donation box. Send your digital photo (jpeg or tiff) along with your pet's name as well as your name, address and telephone number to [email protected]. Entries may also be dropped off at, or mailed to, The Reminder at 10 North Avenue, Flin Flon, MB, R8A 0T2. The deadline is just over three weeks away, so get out your camera and capture some of that cuteness!
